WHAT IS LOVE?
Corinthians 13:4-8 “Charity su8ffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Charity never faileth; but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.”
What this chapter of 1 Corinthians 13 did not mention directly is marriage which could be classified under knowledge. The truth is whether there be marriage, they shall divorce but with charity sincerely exhibited by couples, then, it will never fail.
- It suffers long (patient), It is kind, It does not envy, It does not boast (vaunt), It is not proud (puff), It is not rude(unseemly)
- It is not self-seeking, It is not easily angered (provoked)
- It keeps no record of wrongs (bearable wrongs; not when your spouse takes delight poisoning your loved ones, fighting you, beating up your aged mother, abusing and disrespecting your siblings, never welcoming your family but her family members have occupied all rooms in your house, displayed several attempts to killing you, etc. and never willing or ready to repent or change for good to make a better home).
- It does not delight in evil (thinks no evil)
- It rejoices in truth
- It always protects
- It always trust
- It always hope
- It perseveres
- It never fails
What Is Love in Marriage?
The both spouses are to live their lives by the above biblical definition of LOVE. Once there is a crack in one party or both, divorce smells and spread and soon they will be part if CRACK is not sealed quickly through God’s words of repentance and reconciliation.
Once one spouse becomes conditional in love, then, the smell of divorce spreads and perceived, as unfaithfulness to marital standard is the bases of divorce. If both couples receive this kind of love from each other, if not perfectly but close to perfectly received, there will be not need to worry about divorce. But because, the world has gone so decayed, that even couples don’t have trust in their marriage, divorce should be studied properly to enhance safety in marriage and ideal relationship.

Any marriage that functions against 1 Corinthians 12:4-8 is guaranteed of DIVORCE and any church leader who tells you to remain in such a marriage forever; tell him to change his prayer life that God should give his spouse your kind of spouse attitude and see if he will ever carry the Bible again.
Ephesians 5:1-16 “BE YE therefore followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling savour. But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints…”
WHAT IS MARRIAGE LIKE?
Marriage is like:
- A crop farm that will certainly have weeds competing with the crops, removing the weeds without caution and systematic process, will probably destroy part or whole of the crop (marriage).
- Prayer, no one ever perfects it, there is always room for improvement when the parties involved are ready.
- A Saving account, you can only get out of it what you put into it.
- Paddling a canoe, it looks easy until you try it.
- Horseradish, men praised it with tears in their eyes.
- A classic British sports car, it takes constant care and regular maintenance.
- Credit buying, you commit first, you pay for it later.
- A retirement account, it can only be enjoyed bin old age if you have put in the regular lifelong deposits.
- Fine silver service, it will tarnish if not regularly polished.
- A vending machine, it takes personal change to get something special out of it.
- Wine or cheese, it gets better with age or it turns to vinegar and molds depending on how it is cared for.
