WHY MUST I FORGIVE?
If God has forgiven you of your previous cancerous sins without collecting any price from you; why wouldn’t you forgive your fellow man? Unforgivingness shows the greed of man. You are greedy because you ask for forgiveness from the Lord every moment; yet you can’t forgive your fellow man just for a moment.
Some of the reasons why you must forgive that man or woman today are:
- God will not forgive you if you don’t forgive, especially after knowing this truth today and this will certainly lead you to eternal doom or hell fire (Matt.6:14-15; Mat.7:21-23)
- Unforgivingness leads to bitterness and hatred (Heb.12:5; Eph. 4:1; Lev. 19:17-18; Mark 11:25; Mat.5:23-24)
- Unforgivingness reveals how you feel about Christ. That is, it reveals the nature or magnitude you respect, you have Christ. (John 14:24)
- Unforgivingness hinders prayers that are meant to be effective (John 9:31; 1 John 4:20-21)
- Unforgivingness leads to revenge and God has gracefully commanded us not to revenge (Heb.10:30; Rom.12:19)
- Unforgivingness opens the door of your heart for Satan to rule you and manage your life (2Corin 2:10-11; Eph. 41:26-29)
Unforgivingness is a LOAD of tears! It fills or occupies you, creating no space for a blessing to come into your life. Will you take it to the next year? If you want to repent of the sin of unforgivingness; bring yourself to the LORD and repent now.
Why must I forgive?

“He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.” Pro 16:32
“Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil. For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth.” Psa 37:8-9

MUST ALL PERSONAL OFFENCES GO THROUGH THESE PROCESSES?
Sometimes some offences are really heightened that they don’t go through all the stages. For instance, a wolf minister who killed someone for ritual of his local church progress. If such a crime is unfolded, immediately the minister is arrested; the victimized biological family might probably be a Christian family but wouldn’t go through all the process because it involves the killing of a citizen when viewed politically.
Whatever height of offence received, FORGIVENESS is the expected end point every Christian that is called by the name of Christ should dispense.
Why Must I Forgive? THE PROBLEM THAT HINDERS FORGIVENESS
The problem that hinders forgiveness is the attitude of pride. PRIDE is one big problem that hinders forgiveness.
- Pride to say I am sorry sincerely.
- Pride to meet your offender or the person you have offended “one to one” to sort out your difference and make peaceful reconciliation.
Jesus state it clearly using a little child as His instructional material. You can imagine the level of offenses and the number of times a child receives the offenses; yet the child still runs to reconcile with the offender that makes him cry. Forgiveness is not a thing of choice for believers, it is a must.
Don’t forget your daily prayers of asking the Father to forgive you, while you do that, remember the teachings of Christ again down here!
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. Mat 6:12-15
