IMPULSE OFFENCE AND REACTIONS

Impulse offences are not intended. The alleged offender does not originally have any motive or plan to get the other offended; sometimes, it might be the complete truth that the alleged offender is saying, yet the receiver gets it all wrong probably because of the approach of dispensing the truth, the location or circumstance the receiver is in before the message was sent.

Sometimes the alleged offender tries to force the truth into the receiver as a result of the love he has for the receiver. The truth must always be mentioned amidst uncountable lies (Compare prophet Micaiah in 1 Kings 22).

Impulse offences sometimes come with destructive reactions in the form of fighting, intense quarrel, struggle, etc and this reactions can as well make the alleged offender see the receiver as an offender and at this peak stage, ego factor plays for the carnally minded brethren.

Who accepts defeat? Who says sorry first? Who tries to initiate reconciliation? Being the first to move for peace and reconciliation after offences does not make you weak in any way, rather it shows maturity (perfection) and the strength in you and the complete obedience to the teaching of Christ regarding FORGIVENESS.

CHRIST’S METHOD OF DEALING WITH IMPULSE OFFENCE

Dealing with impulse offences, in Matthew 5:22-24, Christ did not say that the alleged offender or the receiver should first make peace and reconcile but He said it clearly, that, the one that first remembered that a brother has offended him, should avoid giving the offering and move for peace and reconciliation before the giving the offering.

The statement of Christ points that the both parties can simultaneously move for peace and reconciliation. (See Galatians 2- Paul and Peter conflict)

Apart from sinning (Ephesians 4:26), when we keep offences for long, we might end up spending our resources, especially money and Jesus wants us to save our resources. Reconciliation saves money for other better things (Matthew 5:25-26).

How many Christians, local church leaders, brethren are ready for this type of Christian life style?

Remember; you and I cannot change the teachings of Christ, no matter the level of our educational qualifications. The ancient landmarks put down by Christ are YEA and AMEN!

WHY MUST I BE THE FIRST TO TAKE THE MOVE TO RECONCILIATION, EVEN WHEN I AM NOT GUILTY?

You must always strive to be the first to take the move of reconciliation , when you remember that someone has offended you; because:

  • Jesus is PEACE -Ephesians 2:4; Isaiah 9:6.
  • Jesus is HUMBLE -Philippians 2:8
  • Jesus is your Master
  • You must obey the command of your Master
  • It is a mark of obedience to your Master
  • It is a mark of humility
  • It is a mark of strength
  • It is a way of avoiding and putting Satan to shame
  • The alleged offender might not know that he has actually offended you, so saying sorry will seems not coming not until you tell the offender
  • The alleged offender might be aware but find it difficult to say sorry or might not know how to go about it even when he has seen his mistakes but meeting him will help overcome such attitude.
  • The alleged offender might be arrogant, but meeting him might save him from such arrogance.
  • You were saved to save.
