OTHER AREAS TO APPLY JESUS’ METHODS OF FORGIVENESS
Other areas to apply Jesus’ methods of forgiveness include:
BIOLOGICAL FAMILY:
This defines your immediate family that includes your mother, father, siblings and the extended relatives. Who has offended you in your biological family, and the offence is so severe that you find it uneasy to forgive? Today you now know the truth. Will you still not go back home and forgive that person? The procedure laid down by Christ must be followed; before you can even try to justify your avoidance. Wake up and make peace!
SECULAR PEOPLE (SOCIETY/COMMUNITY):
This involves the neighborhood lifestyle, society, etc. A lot of brethren that speak in stylistic tongues, prophesies, lead the praises, lead the Sunday schools and Bible studies, etc are unforgivable persons in their neighborhood. They don’t forgive neighbors; these are the ones that go even to the height of praying that God should kill any man that has offended them. They even preventing them from greeting such neighbors; involving their children in adult conflicts or offences. It is quite unfortunate that the children from both homes exhibit such attitudes of conflict while in their gathering or school.
APPLICATION OF JESUS’ METHOD OF FORGIVENESS TO NATIONAL RELIGIOUS CONFLICT
An X-ray of religion shows that they all have one thing in common; which is the propagation of PEACE, even the deadliest religion, if there is any, will still propagate peace to the viewers, even if the peace they propagate is not genuine.
The teachings of Christ in Matthew 18 which seems to revolve in the family setting can still be applied in the national system of religious matters. For instance in the standard of monotheism, the Christians and Muslims are seen to be brothers, even if their Prophets or messiahs are different as the both messiahs point their followers to One God. Consider how you can apply Jesus’ method of forgiveness in the national level.
I will use the Christians as the complainant, since my references are from the Bible.
- The local church eldership in Nigeria will first meet the eldership of the Muslim in Nigeria; to express their feelings of offences coming from the Muslims. If the Muslims fail to change and still continue with same actions. Then;
- The Local church will need to go the Muslims with two or more religious witnesses that are probably not direct victims of the offences. If they fail to change, then:
- The local church will involve the international religious bodies and if the Muslims fail to change and still continues with same actions; the Christians should avoid the Muslims. The political leaders can act as the highest earthily authority to intervene in such conflicts, especially when it involves the killing of her citizens.

When Jesus sent out the SEVENTY; he gave them specific instructions:
Luke 10:1-24
- He appointed other seventy
- Sent them out two and two before his face into every city and place whither he himself would come
- Informed them of the ready harvest and few labourers and the prayer for more labourers
- Informed them that they were like lambs among wolves
- Instructed them not to go with purse, scrip, shoes and that they should salute no man
- Instructed them to say “Peace be to this house” into any house they enter
- Instructed them that if they are welcomed in the house, they should eat and drink such things that are offered to them. Tell me! Why will the Muslims accept the Christians as brothers when their festive foods and drinks is seen as a tabor by thousands of this modern Christians? The Muslims see the Christians as pagans or infidels. When people of the same country see themselves in this way, how will peace come?
- Commanded them to heal the sick that are therein, and say unto them, “The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.”
- Commanded them to go their way out of the city that will not receive them but should say unto them “Even the very dust of your city, which cleaveth on us, we do wipe off against you: not withstanding be ye sure of this, that the kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.” Tell me! Why wouldn’t there be magnified religious conflict when people are forced to go and remain in the cities that do not want to receive them and the message of the kingdom? The senior ministers remain and reside in the capitals with uncommon anointing and keep sending others ministers to carry the message to those cities, compelling them to remain there and continue the good work of preaching and forcing their faith into people that already have one. Jesus never commanded his disciples to forcefully make people accept the gospel. He only commanded them to preach His kingdom by simply saying the few evangelical line “Repent for the kingdom of God is come nigh unto you” and if they don’t need it, leave them. Jesus himself knows how to bring the willing ones to himself.(Compare John 12:32; John 6:44)
- The “seventy” kept the instruction and peacefully returned with an all round good news.
